Petra van Kampen (1969) studied criminal law at Leiden University. She was sworn in as a lawyer in Rotterdam in 2001, after teaching criminal law at Leiden University as a university lecturer and obtaining her PhD there in 1998. Since 2010 she is a (criminal) lawyer in Amsterdam. She specializes in fraud cases (including bribery cases), environmental law cases and industrial accidents. In 2010, Petra was appointed professor of criminal law practice at the Willem Pompe Institute at Utrecht University. As a professor, she is responsible for the comprehensive university education program specifically tailored for lawyers seeking to specialize in criminal law. Petra is the (co-) author of many publications in the field of criminal (procedural) law. Since 2023, she is also one of the editors of ‘Nederlands Juristenblad’, the leading Dutch journal for lawyers, featuring articles written by renowned authors from academia and practice.

Petra is a member of the Dutch Association of Criminal Law Attorneys (NVSA), the European Criminal Bar Association (ECBA), as well as its “sub-association”, the European Fraud and Compliance Lawyers (EFCL).
